A new report from Impunity Watch presents lessons learned on how to enhance solidarity for victims from Colombia, the DRC, Guatemala, Indonesia, Syria and Tunisia.

This overview report draws together findings from six individual country case studies on victim and survivor participation and leadership of informal transitional justice processes in countries affected by political violence and serious human rights abuses: Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Guatemala, Indonesia, Syria and Tunisia. It explores the perspectives and reflections of victims and survivors in their pursuit for justice in these countries and aims to serve as an important resource for policymakers and practitioners, providing guidance on fostering the meaningful inclusion and leadership of victims and survivors in transitional justice processes.

Those studies, and this overview report, form part of a broader multi-year comparative research project, “Promoting Access to Justice through Victim Participation: Foregrounding Informal Processes,” implemented by Impunity Watch in partnership with research teams in the six targeted countries and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
